Hon. John D. Freeland

John D. Freeland has served as a judge on the Superior Court of Stanislaus County, California, since his appointment by Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger on July 21, 2008. He was re-elected in 2010 and 2016, and his current term runs through 2029. Freeland earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of California, Berkeley, and a Juris Doctor from Santa Clara University. Prior to his judicial service, he practiced law in a variety of roles, including as an attorney at Curtis and Arata, a sole practitioner, and positions at several law firms such as Williams, Romanski, Polverari, & Skelton, Ericksen, Arbuthnot, Kilduff, Day & Lindstrom Incorporated, Roberts & Moore, the Law Offices of Lorraine Wallace, the Law Offices of Roger Neathery, and Halston & Clark. His extensive experience in the legal field and his long tenure on the bench underscore his commitment to the administration of justice in Stanislaus County.
