Hon. Stephen Smith

Stephen L. Smith is a judge of the Minnesota 2nd District Court Position 23. He earned his J.D. from the University of Iowa and has a distinguished career in public service and private practice. Smith served 14 years as an assistant state public defender, later worked as a special assistant attorney general, and practiced privately before his appointment to the bench in 2015. He was elected to the position in 2018 and continues to serve the community with a commitment to justice.
