Hon. C. Don Clay

C. Don Clay has served as a judge of the Superior Court of Alameda County, California, since his appointment in 2003. He was re-elected in 2018 and 2012, and his current term expires in January 2025. Prior to his judicial tenure, Clay was the first assistant United States attorney for the U.S. Attorney's Office from 2002 to 2003. From 1981 to 2002, he practiced criminal and civil law in various firms and as a sole practitioner. He earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of California, Berkeley, and a J.D. from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law. Clay’s legal career has focused on criminal and civil matters, and he has been recognized for his service on the Alameda County bench.
