Hon. Mark Edward Betters

Mark Betters is a judge serving the Fifth Judicial District of Blue Earth County, Minnesota. Appointed by Governor Mark Dayton on January 26, 2017, he assumed office on March 16, 2017, after the conversion of a vacant referee position into a district court judgeship. Betters earned a B.A. from the University of Wisconsin, Stevens Point, and a J.D. from Mitchell Hamline School of Law. Prior to his judicial appointment, he was a shareholder and president of Betters Wienandt Attorneys at Law, and he has practiced as an attorney at Manahan Bluth Law Office and as a public defender for the Fifth Judicial District. His professional service also includes pro bono representation, investigative work for the Sixth District Ethics Committee, and volunteer work with a family drug court legal clinic.
