Hon. John R. Brownlee

John R. Brownlee has served as a judge on the Superior Court of Kern County, California, since his appointment by Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger in 2007. He was re-elected unopposed in 2016 and again in 2022, with his current term set to expire in January 2029. Brownlee earned a B.S. from Northern Arizona University in 1985 and a J.D. from the University of the Pacific’s McGeorge School of Law in 1990. Prior to his judicial appointment, he practiced as an attorney in the Kern County District Attorney’s Office from 1990 to 2007.
