Hon. John P. Kolesar

John P. Kolesar is a former judge of the Sandusky County Court Number 1 in Sandusky County, Ohio, serving from 2009 until 2018. He earned a Bachelor of Science from Drexel University in 1988 and a Juris Doctor from the University of Dayton School of Law in 1995. Prior to his judgeship, Kolesar worked as an assistant county prosecutor in both Seneca and Sandusky counties, served as an assistant county public defender in Seneca County, and practiced privately in Dayton, Ohio. In 2014 he was a Democratic candidate for the Sandusky County Court of Common Pleas, running unopposed in the primary but ultimately losing in the general election. He was re-elected to his court seat in 2012 and had previously won the 2010 election against Mary Elizabeth Fiser. His career has focused on criminal law and public service within Ohio's judicial system.
