Jeff Foster McElroy is a judge serving the Eighth Judicial District Court in New Mexico. He was elected to the position on November 6, 2012, and was sworn in on December 13, 2012. McElroy was retained in 2014 with 81.5 percent of the vote, and his term expires on December 31, 2020. Prior to his judgeship, he served as Deputy District Attorney for Taos County from 2003 to 2012, Director of Development for various Los Angeles nonprofits from 1988 to 2002, New Mexico Assistant Attorney General from 1984 to 1988, and an aide to Governor Toney Anaya from 1982 to 1984. He earned a Bachelor of Arts from St. John’s College in 1979 and a Juris Doctor from the University of New Mexico School of Law in 1982. McElroy has been recognized by the New Mexico Bar Association, Taos County Bar Association, TriCounty Community Service, NonViolence Works, and Boys and Girls Clubs of Northern New Mexico.
