Hon. Nicholas J. McNamara

Nicholas McNamara is a nonpartisan judge serving on the Dane County Circuit Court, Branch 5, in Wisconsin. He has held this position since 2009 and was re-elected in 2010, 2016, and 2022, with his current term ending July 31, 2028. McNamara earned a B.A. from the University of Iowa in 1987 and a J.D. from the University of Wisconsin Law School in 1993. Prior to his judgeship, he practiced privately as an attorney from 1993 to 2009. In addition to his judicial duties, he has contributed to legal education as an adjunct professor at the University of Wisconsin Law School since 1999 and served as an instructor for the Madison Area Technical College Paralegal Program in 2008-2009. His career reflects a commitment to both the administration of justice and the training of future legal professionals.
