</p><p><b>William F. Kussel, Jr.</b> is a <a href="/Wisconsin_Circuit_Courts" title="Wisconsin Circuit Courts">circuit court</a> judge for the <a href="/Menominee/Shawano_County_Circuit_Court,_Wisconsin" title="Menominee/Shawano County Circuit Court, Wisconsin">Menominee and Shawano County Circuit Court</a> in <a href="/Wisconsin" title="Wisconsin">Wisconsin</a>.<sup id="cite_ref-1" class="reference"><a href="#cite_note-1">[1]</a></sup> He was appointed by Governor <a href="/Judges_appointed_by_Scott_Walker" title="Judges appointed by Scott Walker">Scott Walker</a> in September of 2011 to fill the seat vacated by <a href="/Thomas_Grover" title="Thomas Grover">Thomas Grover</a>.<sup id="cite_ref-Shawano_2-0" class="reference"><a href="#cite_note-Shawano-2">[2]</a></sup> Kussel was elected in 2012 for a term that will expire in 2018.<sup id="cite_ref-wew_3-0" class="reference"><a href="#cite_note-wew-3">[3]</a></sup>

<h2><span class="mw-headline" id="Education">Education</span></h2>
<p>Kussel earned his Bachelor of the Arts from St. Norbert College in 1979 and his <a href="/J.D." class="mw-redirect" title="J.D.">J.D.</a> from the <a href="/Southwestern_University_School_of_Law" class="mw-redirect" title="Southwestern University School of Law">Southwestern University School of Law</a> in 1984.<sup id="cite_ref-Shawano_2-1" class="reference"><a href="#cite_note-Shawano-2">[2]</a></sup>
</p>
<h2><span class="mw-headline" id="Career">Career</span></h2>
<p>Kussel has served in several positions in the Menominee Indian Tribe of Wisconsin over the past 25 years. He has worked as a tribal prosecutor, provided general legal counsel to the tribe, served as legal counsel to the Menominee Tribal Gaming Commission, led the Office of the Tribal Prosecutor and worked closely with the U.S. Attorney and the FBI on major crimes.<sup id="cite_ref-Shawano_2-2" class="reference"><a href="#cite_note-Shawano-2">[2]</a></sup><sup id="cite_ref-wew_3-1" class="reference"><a href="#cite_note-wew-3">[3]</a></sup>
</p><p>Kussel previously ran for circuit court judge and district attorney in Menominee and Shawano county, but was unsuccessful in both attempts.<sup id="cite_ref-Shawano_2-3" class="reference"><a href="#cite_note-Shawano-2">[2]</a></sup>
</p>
<h2><span class="mw-headline" id="2012_election">2012 election</span></h2>
<p>Kussel successfully ran for re-election. Winning in the February 21st primary, Kussel moved on to defeat <a href="/David_R._Winter" title="David R. Winter">David R.
