About
Peggy D. Richardson is a distinguished judge serving the 26th Judicial Circuit Court in Missouri. She was appointed by Governor Jay Nixon on November 9, 2016, to fill a newly created circuit judge position established by Senate Bill 578, which was enacted to alleviate the district’s heavy caseload. Prior to her current role, Richardson served as an associate judge for the 26th Circuit from 1998 to 2016, having been elected to that position in 1998 and re-elected in 2002, 2006, 2010, and 2014. She also held municipal court judgeships in Clarksburg, Jamestown, and Tipton in Moniteau County, Missouri. Earlier in her career, Richardson practiced privately as an attorney from 1983 to 1998 and served as an assistant prosecuting attorney for Morgan County. She earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Central Missouri and her Juris Doctor from the University of Missouri, Columbia. Richardson’s career is marked by her consistent electoral success, including unopposed campaigns in both primary and general elections, and her appointment to a pivotal judicial role that addresses critical caseload demands in Missouri’s 26th Circuit.
