About
Rex M. Burlison is a Missouri circuit judge serving the 22nd Judicial Circuit Court. Appointed by Governor Jay Nixon on August 9, 2011, he has held the position since then and was retained by voters in the 2018 retention election with 63.9% of the vote. Prior to his judicial career, Burlison practiced law in several Missouri firms, including the Law Office of George E. Sullivan, Carmichael and Burlison, Attorneys at Law, the Law Office of Rex M. Burlison, Burlison and Farrell, and Burlison, Suddarth & Koor, L.L.C. He also served as an associate circuit judge of the 11th Judicial Circuit Court, chief counsel for the Eastern District in Attorney General Jay Nixon’s Office, and director of the Eastern Region on the governor’s senior staff. Burlison earned a B.A. in political science and law enforcement from Northeast Missouri State University (now Truman State University) in 1976 and a J.D. from Saint Louis University School of Law in 1979.
