Hon. Melanie D. Stanton

Melanie Stanton is a judge on the Grand Traverse County Probate Court in Michigan. She was elected to the court in 2012, with a term expiring in 2019. Stanton earned a diploma in nursing from Henry Ford Hospital School of Nursing in 1978, a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Wayne State University in 1983, and a Juris Doctor from the University of Detroit School of Law in 1989. She has practiced law for over 22 years, serving as a guardian ad litem in family law cases and as an approved mediator for the 13th Circuit and Family Court in domestic relations. Her practice areas include family law, estate planning, guardianship, and mediation. Stanton’s election victory in 2012, where she secured 52.08% of the vote against Kirsten L.
