Hon. Charles E. Auslander

Judge Charles E. Auslander, III, has served Athens-Clarke County as a judge since 2002. Initially, he was in the Magistrate Court from 2002 to 2011 and then moved to the State Court in 2011. He is known for his work in the Athens DUI treatment court, which has received national recognition for reducing recidivism among repeat DUI offenders. He has also been a leader in promoting alternative dispute resolution in civil cases and served as the chair of the Georgia Commission on Dispute Resolution from 2012 to 2019. In addition to his judicial career, he has held various administrative roles, including being an Administrative Law Judge at the Office of Disability Adjudication and Review in Atlanta, Georgia, where he processed a significant number of cases with notable approval rates.
