<p>Key received both her undergraduate degree and <a href="/J.D." class="mw-redirect" title="J.D.">J.D.</a> from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She was admitted to the bar in 1983.<sup id="cite_ref-6" class="reference"><a href="#cite_note-6">[6]</a></sup>
</p>
<h2><span class="mw-headline" id="Career">Career</span></h2>
<p>Key is a former prosecutor for the counties of <a href="/Wood_County,_Wisconsin_(Judicial)" title="Wood County, Wisconsin (Judicial)">Wood</a> and <a href="/Winnebago_County,_Wisconsin_(Judicial)" title="Winnebago County, Wisconsin (Judicial)">Winnebago</a>. She then worked briefly as a supervising attorney for the State Public Defender’s office before becoming a commissioner for the <a href="/Winnebago_County_Circuit_Court,_Wisconsin" title="Winnebago County Circuit Court, Wisconsin">Winnebago County Circuit Court</a> in 1991. In 1998, she was elected judge of that court.<sup id="cite_ref-thirdbranch_7-0" class="reference"><a href="#cite_note-thirdbranch-7">[7]</a></sup>
