Hon. Jason J. Deal

Jason J. Deal, a veteran of the U.S. Army and son of former Governor Nathan Deal, has served as a Superior Court Judge in Georgia since June 2005 and was appointed Chief Judge of the Northeastern Judicial Circuit in February 2024. He presides over the Hall County Drug Court and the Dawson County Treatment Court, bringing his extensive experience as a former District Attorney for the Northeastern Judicial Circuit and as a former Assistant District Attorney for Hall and Dawson Counties. Deal has also held positions as Magistrate Judge of Hall County, Associate with Thompson, Fox, Chandler, Homans, Hicks & McKinnan, and County Attorney for Dawson County. His dedication to criminal justice reform earned him the Emory Findley Award in 2017 and the distinction of being the first chairman of the Georgia Council of Accountability Court Judges. A graduate of Furman University (B.S.) and the University of Georgia School of Law (J.D.), Deal continues to contribute to Georgia’s legal community through his leadership roles and commitment to fair and effective court administration.
