Hon. Charles S. Treat

Charles S. Treat is a Superior Court judge in Contra Costa County, California, appointed by former Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger on October 3, 2005. He earned a bachelor's degree from Michigan State University in 1977 and a J.D. from the University of Chicago in 1980. Prior to his judgeship, Treat served as a judicial clerk for Judge John Minor Wisdom on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit and for Associate Justice William Brennan of the U.S. Supreme Court. He also worked as a civil litigator at Latham & Watkins. In 2014, Treat ran for re-election to the Superior Court and, as an unopposed incumbent, was automatically re-elected to a term expiring in 2021.
