Hon. Barry Tidwell

Barry Tidwell is a judge on the Sixteenth Circuit Court in Tennessee, appointed by Gov. Bill Haslam on November 21, 2017. He previously served as a judge of the Rutherford County General Sessions Court from 2014 to 2017, having been elected to that position on August 7, 2014. Prior to his judicial service, Tidwell practiced law in several Tennessee firms, including Bullock, Fly, Hornsby & Evans in Murfreesboro, Price & Tidwell, and Tidwell & Cartee, as well as his own practice, the Law Office of Barry Tidwell. He earned a Bachelor of Arts from Middle Tennessee State University and a Juris Doctor from the Nashville School of Law in 1998. Tidwell’s career reflects a commitment to upholding the law and the constitution, as he has stated that a judge’s duty is to follow the law and avoid legislating from the bench.
