Yamilette Alvarez Pagan

Yamilette Alvarez Pagan is a native of Puerto Rico. At the age of 11, she moved to New York City with her family where she learned English as a second language. In 2002, Attorney Alvarez Pagan graduated from Katharine Gibbs Business school with an associate degree in hotel and restaurant management. She worked in the hotel industry for many years prior to enrolling at Monroe College in New York City in 2013. Attorney Alvarez Pagan graduated summa cum laude with a bachelors degree in criminal justice in 2015. Prior to attending law school, Attorney Alvarez Pagan knew she wanted to pursue a career as a Federal Defender. Attorney Alvarez Pagan attended Stetson University School of law where she obtained her Juris Doctor with a Social Justice Advocacy Concentration in 2019. While in law school she participated in numerous clinics and externships (the Homeless Advocacy Clinic, the Public Defender Clinic, the Child Advocacy Clinic both at the 6th Judicial Circuit Public Defenders Office and the Federal Defenders Office of the Middle District of Florida externship.) Due to her dedication and contribution to the criminal justice system, she received the Paul Barnard Award for Clinic Excellence. She joined the 6th Judicial Circuit Public Defenders Office as an Assistant Public Defender in 2019 and remained until her new appointment as an Assistant Federal Defender in the Middle District of Florida. Attorney Alvarez Pagan is passionate about public defense and representing indigent clients.
