Corey Kleinhenz

Corey defends workers compensation claims - including right to participate and extent of disability issues - for small, medium, and large employers in Ohio, both before the Industrial Commission and in litigation before Courts of Common Pleas and Courts of Appeal throughout the state. He also represents businesses in rating, classifications, and premium issues before the Bureau of Workers Compensation Adjudicating Committee and has particular strengths guiding employers to compliance with Violation of Specific Safety Requirements. In addition, Corey advises employers on risk management and claims administration best practices, investigates workplace injuries and occupational disease claims, negotiates settlements, and helps clients understand and evaluate the value of claims and potential future financial exposure. Clients appreciate Coreys unique perspective on workers compensation issues, gained while representing injured workers for more than ten years before joining Roetzel. Drawing on his experience, Corey can anticipate arguments and requests from opposing counsel and develop effective and efficient proactive defenses and claims management strategies. In one noteworthy case, Corey was part of a team that successfully reversed a permanent total disability award for a large employer, saving the company more than $1 million over the lifetime of the claim. In addition to his work assisting employers in claims, Corey regularly provides training and education on a variety of workers compensation issues to third-party administrators, clients, and various trade and bar associations across the State of Ohio.
