Ana Maria Downs Partner Ana Maria is a trial attorney with a concentrated knowledge base and experience in insurance defense litigation. She has participated in all aspects of personal injury defense matters, and successfully defended her clients in jury trials, mediations, and arbitration hearings. Her areas of practice are diverse and include general negligence, premises liability, product liability, construction negligence, wrongful death, automobile and trucking liability, consumer fraud, contract disputes, insurance coverage, probate surety litigation and appellate work. After beginning her career with a private insurance defense firm, Ana Maria gained additional knowledge and proficiency in the insurance industry through her employment with the in-house staff counsel operations of The Liberty Mutual Insurance Company and The Hanover Insurance Group. As an In-House Lead Trial Attorney, she advised Claims Professionals and represented their Insureds, securing Achievement Awards with each company. Ana Maria is licensed to practice law in the State of Illinois, and she has handled civil defense cases throughout Illinois, the United States District Courts for the Northern, Central and Southern Districts of Illinois, as well as appellate litigation in the Illinois Appellate Court, Illinois Supreme Court, and United States Court of Appeals - Seventh Circuit. Ana Maria graduated from the University of Illinois Chicago School of Law, where she excelled in Honors Research and Writing and Moot Court, with her Team securing the Award for Best Brief in the Chicago Bar Association Moot Court Competition. She is a member of the Illinois State Bar Association and Hispanic Lawyers Association of Illinois.
