About
Jacob Swatley represents clients in complex civil litigation in state and federal courts with principal practice areas of healthcare litigation, corporate law, and election law. He represents hospitals and healthcare providers in healthcare liability/medical malpractice lawsuits and workers compensation claims across Tennessee and Arkansas. Jacob also advises several businesses as outside counsel on an array of corporate legal matters. He has closed on a variety of commercial acquisitions, ranging from small business deals to healthcare acquisitions worth tens of millions of dollars. In his election law practice area, Jacob has represented candidates, government officials, and other clients in matters inside and outside of the courtroom. He has handled redistricting cases before the Tennessee Supreme Court and was the first lawyer in private practice to represent state officials at trial before a Tennessee three-judge panel. At present, he is litigation counsel to the Shelby County Election Commission. Jacob currently serves as Tennessees Senate Speaker appointee to the Uniform Law Commission where he works on the nationwide creation of uniform and model laws. He is an alumnus of Tennessee Bar Associations Leadership Law (TBALL) and Leadership Memphis. Jacob has been selected as a Rising Star by Mid-South Super Lawyers for multiple years and he is active with the Tennessee Bar Association, Memphis Bar Association, and the Federalist Society. Jacob graduated from the University of Mississippi School of Law with honors and was a staff editor on the Mississippi Law Journal and Federal Courts Law Review. He received his bachelors degree from the University of Memphis with honors in political science where he was inducted into the Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society.
