Samuel Charles McAfee

Samuel Charles Holzschuh is a trial and appellate lawyer whose practice encompasses a broad range of civil litigation, including the resolution of complex business, commercial, and workplace disputes, before state and federal courts, mediations and arbitrations. He also counsels and represents individuals and businesses in disputes in administrative proceedings before various local and state agencies, commissions and boards. Sam devotes a portion of his practice to representing employers and management exclusively in all phases of labor and employment law and litigation, including the resolution of disputes, counseling on litigation avoidance and compliance best practices, and advising on day-to-day issues arising out of the employer-employee relationship. In the field of labor law, he represents employers in grievance arbitrations, unfair labor practice proceedings, civil rights employment actions, and collective bargaining negotiations. As a member of the firms dedicated Condemnation, Eminent Domain, and Landowner Rights team, Sam also works on behalf of landowners protect their rights and to maximize the just compensation due to them when their property is taken by a governmental entity or public utility for a public use - either through early negotiations, the Commissioners Award process, or jury trial. Sam serves as an associate editor on staff for the American Bar Association Young Lawyer Divisions The Young Lawyer magazine for the 2024-2025 term. After earning his undergraduate degree in multimedia journalism from Oklahoma State University in 2018 as a McKnight Leadership Scholar, Sam worked for three years as a news producer in Wichita, Kansas, where he earned two awards from the Kansas Association of Broadcasters, and in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, where he launched News 9s first mid-morning news program. Seeking a new personal opportunity after the pandemic, he decided to find new ways to contribute to his community by going to law school. The Texas native went on to graduate summa cum laude from the Oklahoma City University School of Law in 2024. While pursuing his Juris Doctor, he was elected president of the Student Bar Association as well as vice president of his class, served as an assistant resource editor for the Oklahoma City University Law Review, and earned nine CALI Awards for academic excellence. In addition to being named to the Order of the Barristers, the future litigator earned a Best Brief Award with his American Bar Association National Appellate Advocacy Competition team in 2024 and was a regional champion in 2023. Sam was also the recipient of numerous honors, including the Distinguished Graduate Award, Alumni Association Award, and Graduate Student Leader Award. He also worked as an Academic Fellow for Constitutional Law at his law school and as a judicial extern for the Honorable Timothy D. DeGiusti, Chief Judge of the U. S. District Court for the Western District of Oklahoma. Sam lives in Oklahoma City with his wife, Destry, an Oklahoma State University alumna and administrator at Oklahoma City University School of Law. They are both OSU football season ticket holders.
