Justin Murphy

As leader of the Cartel and Government Antitrust Investigations Task Force, Justin Murphy focuses his practice on government enforcement of complex antitrust, fraud and white collar criminal matters and defending against complex civil business litigation. A former federal prosecutor, he represents clients in all aspects of global and domestic antitrust, competition and business-related matters, including grand jury investigations; other government investigations with the DOJ, FTC or State Attorneys General offices; nationwide bet-the-company class actions; and other complex criminal and civil litigations. Justin represents clients across a broad range of industries and topics, including bid-rigging, price fixing, procurement fraud, labor market practices, no-poach, pricing algorithms and other AI tools, and monopolization. Justin provides practical and common-sense advice to clients and his experience acting as a first-chair trial attorney makes him a valuable asset to clients in investigations and litigation. He also has extensive experience with internal investigations, corporate governance and regulatory compliance and policies, follow-on civil litigation actions to cartel investigations, and trials and appeals. Justin previously served as a trial attorney for the Department of Justice, Criminal Antitrust Division, where he investigated and prosecuted domestic and international cartel cases, procurement fraud, wire fraud, mail fraud and obstruction matters. He was selected as one of the few prosecutors to lead the DOJs Procurement Collusion Strike Force (PCSF) and was also a CHIP (Computer Hacking and Intellectual Property) prosecutor, assisting and advising Antitrust Division attorneys on complex digital evidence and data privacy issues. Justin also has considerable experience working with corporate leniency applicants, including some of the largest and most recent criminal investigations. During his time at DOJ, Justin worked with, advised and trained antitrust enforcement agencies across the globe, including Japan, Korea, Taiwan, Mexico, Brazil, Australia, Israel, Canada, the United Kingdom, Romania and throughout Europe. Justin is experienced in e-discovery and privacy-related issues in government investigations and criminal matters, including electronic discovery issues, the use of data analytics and computer forensics as investigative tools and negotiating with government investigators.
