David Gould

David has been a partner at the firm since 2007 and became a named partner in January 2021. He heads the firms Early Settlement Division and has settled over 100 cases on behalf of insurance carriers and NYCHA within 12 months from their inception. David is also a capable and successful trial attorney who has participated in more than 100 trials and has tried over 75 cases to verdict throughout the state. Recent decisions include: Unanimous defense verdict in Nassau Supreme Court before Justice R. Bruce Cozzens in July 2021. The jury deliberated for one hour and found that the plaintiff did not sustain a serious injury. Defense verdict in the Supreme Court Kings County before Judge Debra Silber in May 2021, in one of the first jury trials after the Covid pause. After deliberating for just 36 minutes, the jury rendered a unanimous defense verdict holding that the defendant was not negligent. Unanimous defense verdict in the Supreme Court Suffolk County in March 2019 in a case involving the plaintiffs fall from a ladder. The defendant had observed the plaintiff lose his balance and then fall off the ladder, rather than the fall being due to the defendants action. Unanimous liability defense verdict in Supreme Court Nassau County before Justice Arthur Diamond in February 2019 in a case involving the plaintiffs fall from a ladder that he said was due to defects in the defendants driveway. For the past 26 years he has been an Adjunct Professor at the City University of New York, Queens College where he teaches courses such as Freedom of Speech, Trial Advocacy and Media Law and Ethics. He is also a frequent lecturer for the National Business Institute continuing legal education series and has taught such courses as: Advanced Trial Tactics, Trial Skills Workshop, Mini Med School for Attorneys, Working with Experts and Using Medical Records to Prove Your Case. Active in his community, David has served as a coach for students at Stuyvesant High School and Richmond Hill High School in the New York State Mock Trial Competition Partners in Education Program. He is a regular donor at the New York Blood Center and is a member of their Gallon Club. For the past 12 years, he has been an in-class defensive driving instructor for the National Safety Council. David also assists junior associates in the firms mentoring program and spearheaded the firms food, toy and clothing drive to help the underserved in the community.
