We look beyond what is being marketed as tech for lawyers and evaluate new advances no matter what industry they may be geared to initially. By doing this, MKT Law can be on the cutting edge of new tech tools and use these skills and the inherent advantage to stay ahead of opponents with much larger budgets and what appears to be many more resources. Mark is a proactive, creative, and strategic litigator. In 2005, 2006, 2007, and 2008, he was named a Rising Star by Minnesota Law & Politics, Twin Cities Business Monthly, and Mpls. / St. Paul Magazine. Mark has extensive experience in complex commercial cases before state and federal courts and in arbitrations. He is adept in handling cases from the trial court level and up on appeal. Recently, Marks client was victorious in holding a contractor liable on an oral promise to split the profits from a commercial renovation project, and was awarded the full amount of attorneys fees incurred and pierced the corporate veil to hold the owner personally liable. In another recent case, after three days of trial, Marks landlord client successfully fended off a tenants lawsuit alleging a failure to maintain and repair with no liability. In yet another, Marks homeowner client obtained a six-figure settlement in a construction defect case on an historic Minneapolis mansion after defeating summary judgment alleging spoliation of evidence. In one last example, Mark is still proud of a case involving a farmer-landlord client where he convinced the Court of Appeals to reverse an award of about $500,000.00 in a lease dispute over a right of first refusal for a wild rice farm a few years ago.
