Laura J. Avery

Laurie Avery is a partner in the Perez Morris Toledo office, offering over two decades of experience in medical malpractice, professional liability, and business litigation. Laurie has a proven track record of managing complex legal issues across multiple sectors, including health care, manufacturing, retail, entertainment, finance, restaurants, education, real estate and insurance. Her practice includes litigation, arbitration, and administrative hearings, reflecting her comprehensive approach to legal disputes. For the past several years Lauries trial practice has focused on the defense of medical professionals in addition to litigation involving complex commercial disputes, enforcement of noncompete agreements and property disputes. Lauries legal experience extends to employment law, where she has managed cases involving wrongful termination, discrimination, and compliance with federal employment statutes like the FMLA and FLSA. Her prior role as a staff attorney handling commercial dockets for the Lucas County Common Pleas Court has equipped her with unique insights into court operations, aiding her in navigating intricate litigation matters. While earning her law degree from Case Western Reserve University School of Law, Laurie served as executive editor of the Health Matrix Journal of Law-Medicine. Prior to law school, she obtained a degree in political science along with a certificate in management studies from the University of Rochester. Laurie continues to be involved in education, most recently by teaching a course in trial practice at the University of Toledo, where she was recognized as the Part Time Professor of the Year. Actively involved in her community, Laurie serves on the Jobst Vascular Institute Advisory Board, Perrysburg Schools Parent Safety Task Force, and as President and Co-founder of Lambies Legacy, an organization that promotes health awareness and cancer research. Laurie resides in Perrysburg with her husband and three children. When not advocating for her clients she can be found cheering on her kids on the pool deck, lacrosse fields, lake regattas, orchestra stages, and cross country courses.
