Charles D. Jones

Profile Charlie Jones is a member of the McNees Litigation Group, where he uses his strong analytical and legal writing skills to best serve his clients. What does Charlie do for Clients? Charlie assists clients in a wide variety of litigation matters, including higher education issues, landlord-tenant disputes, contract disputes, and guardianship matters. During his third year of law school, Charlie worked for the Washington and Lee Advanced Administrative Litigation Clinic (Black Lung Clinic), where he assisted coal miners in their pursuit for federal black lung benefits. In this role, Charlie worked on numerous complex civil litigation matters, including cross examining a doctor testifying for a coal company during a deposition, presenting and opening statement to a federal ALJ, and successfully arguing motions to exclude evidence in front of an ALJ. While working as a McNees summer law clerk, Charlie contributed to an article on eminent domain published by The Legal Intelligencer. He also previously worked as a law clerk for the Prince William County Attorneys Office. There, Charlie utilized his analytical, research, and writing skills for issues involving a wide variety of legal topics, including First Amendment law, county immunity from tort claims, labor and employment, and statutory analysis. Additionally, Charlie was a member of the Law Review and heavily involved in litigation competitions during his time in law school. He was selected to compete on behalf of his school at the American Bar Association D. C. Regional competition. There, he won an individual award for Best Oral Advocate, placing 6th out of 72 competitors. Charlie also was a semifinalist in the Washington and Lee John W. Davis Moot Court competition, and the runner-up in the Washington and Lee Mediation competition. How does Charlie spend his free time? When he is not practicing law, Charlie enjoys snowboarding, fishing, and playing soccer. He also loves hanging out with his golden retriever, Odin. EDUCATION Juniata College, magna cum laude, B.
