About
Wesley T. Fortune was awarded his Juris Doctor from Capital Law School in Columbus, Ohio, his Master of Business Administration – concentration in Finance/Portfolio Management and Bachelor of Science from Louisiana State University – Shreveport in Shreveport, Louisiana. After completing law school, Mr. Fortune was a Judicial Clerk for Honorable Chief Judge S. Maurice Hicks, Jr. – United States District Court for the Western District of Louisiana. While attending law school, Mr. Fortune served the citizens of Ohio as a Certified Legal Intern in The Office of The Ohio Consumers’ Counsel and as a Law Clerk for Paul J. Carmouche, Caddo Parish, Louisiana District Attorney. In 2009, Mr. Fortune was admitted to practice law in Ohio as well as the federal court of the Southern District of Ohio. Mr. Fortune has practiced before The Ohio Supreme Court, the Ohio Fifth District Court of Appeals, the Ohio Tenth District Court of Appeals, the United States District Court for the Northern District of Texas, and the 125th Judicial District Court of Texas. Mr. Fortune is also an entrepreneur and published Inventor recognized in U.S. Patent: 8,742,934.Prior to receiving his Juris Doctor, Mr. Fortune was considered by the Cleveland Indians during the 1990 Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft and was recruited by Louisiana State University and the University of Texas as a baseball player. In 1999, Mr. Fortune missed qualifying as a PGA of America professional by one stroke. Mr. Fortune worked for American Electric Power (“AEP”) for 11 years – mostly in a regulatory capacity – and for Wal-Mart Stores, Incorporated for 2 years at its corporate headquarters in Bentonville, Arkansas in its Real Estate Division. The Association of Energy Engineers recognized Mr. Fortune as a Certified Energy Manager (“CEM”) beginning in 2000 (license now expired). As a result of Mr. Fortune’s education, work with AEP, and CEM, Mr. Fortune possesses an extensive knowledge of the electric industry from the generator to the meter. While working for Wal-Mart, Mr. Fortune was personally selected by B. Kevin Turner, then President and CEO for Wal-Mart Store’s retailer, Sam’s Club, to lead a utility cost analysis team. While working for American Electric Power, Mr. Fortune was selected by AEP’s present President and CEO, Nick Akins, as his then youngest Regulatory and Issues Management Consultant.Mr. Fortune is a Lifetime Member of the American Motor Association and enjoys riding both dirt and street bikes. Mr. Fortune is also a member of the American Baseball Coaches Association and is the Pickerington Ridgeview Junior High 7th Grade Head Baseball Coach.
