Jeffrey Coleman graduated from the University of Michigan – Ann Arbor with a B.A. in Economics in 2002. In 2004, Mr. Coleman obtained an M.A. in Sports Administration from Wayne State University. Mr. Coleman graduated with a Juris Doctor from Wayne State University Law School in 2008. During law school Mr. Coleman was an active participant in the Moot Court program, served as Vice President of the Sports & Entertainment Law Society, and was a 2007-2008 Silver Key recipient for outstanding grade point average. Jeffrey also served as a law clerk for one of Michigan’s top insurance companies, as well as for the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office. Mr. Coleman was admitted to the Michigan Bar in 2008 and to the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan in 2009. He is also a member of the Michigan Defense Trial Counsel (MDTC). Mr. Coleman joined Hewson & Van Hellemont in June of 2009 and currently, among other areas, practices insurance defense. Jeffrey is an expert in defending actions for first-party, third-party and uninsured motorist claims. He also has experience litigating product liability, breach of warranty, and subrogation actions. During his time at Hewson & Van Hellemont, Mr. Coleman has obtained no cause jury verdicts in both the Wayne County and Macomb County Circuit Courts. He also has received a jury verdict in his client’s favor in the 48th District Court. Mr. Coleman has been involved in several successful appeals before the Michigan Court of Appeals, and has successfully appealed negative determinations by the Michigan Unemployment Insurance Agency.
