David Mercer

A partner at Butler, David A. Mercer practices in our Casualty Defense Litigation, Trucking, and Construction departments. In 2004, David joined the firm in our Tampa office and has consistently represented his clients with dedication and precision. David has a diverse civil litigation practice that ranges from catastrophic personal injury disputes and wrongful death claims, uninsured motorist claims, and trucking accidents to complex construction defect disputes for a wide range of contractors and subcontractors. David has extensive experience handling the unique liability issues that arise out of the telecommunications industry. Additionally, he has defended premises liability and automobile liability claims on behalf of businesses, individuals, and trucking companies. David works tirelessly to represent and defend his clients and keep them informed through every step of the litigation process. He takes a collaborative approach with his clients to achieve the most beneficial result either through informal negotiations, alternative dispute resolution, or through trial. David is a native of Florida and received his Doctor of Jurisprudence, magna cum laude, from the University of Miami in 1998. He also holds a Bachelor of Science, magna cum laude, in Political Science and Interdisciplinary Social Sciences from Florida State University, which he earned in 1995. He is licensed in the State of Florida and each of Floridas Federal District Courts. David is an active member of the Hillsborough County Bar Association as well as the Florida Defense Lawyers Association.
