J. Alexander Lao

Experience Alex graduated from Southern Illinois University School of Law in 1999. He began his career with the Hillsborough County State Attorneys Office in 1999 where he served for six years as a prosecutor and was ultimately lead trial attorney. He handled thousands of criminal cases. He tried thirty-four jury trials as lead counsel ranging from Robbery with a firearm to Violent Career Criminals, and second chaired many other jury trials. From 2005 to 2014, he worked as a trial attorney for a local law firm, and was a named partner in the firm for the last couple years. While at the firm, he tried twenty-two jury trials over those nine years. He served as lead attorney in twenty-one of those trials. Alex has successfully conducted jury trials in claims regarding wrongful death to serious bodily injury. He has also handled several cases involving traumatic brain injuries. Alex now only represents injured individuals. He is recognized by the Florida Bar as being board certified in civil trial law.
