He was a senior partner of Hume, Smith, Geddes, Green & Simmons LLP (formerly Smith & Jones). He graduated from Indiana University with a Bachelor of Science degree in business, and from Indiana University School of Law Indianapolis with a Juris Doctorate degree in 1969. He served as law clerk for Judge James Cooper, deceased, former judge of the Indiana Court of Appeals from 1967-1969. He has served as a member of the Character and Fitness Committee of the State of Indiana since 1984. Mr. Green is a former president of the Indianapolis Law Club. He is a past president, treasurer, and former member of the Board of Directors of the Columbia Club Inc. and former member of the Columbia Club Foundation Inc. He has been named a Sagamore of the Wabash. Mr. Green has served as president of the American Business Club Inc. of Indianapolis, Indiana, and served on its Board of Directors for three years. Mr. Green previously practiced law in the areas of estate planning and estate administration. He also represented injured and disabled persons caused by automobile or motorcycle accidents, trucking accidents, and premises and construction accidents. He had professional experience in representing injured, disabled or death cases involving railroad employees under the Federal Employers Liability Act (FELA). He enjoys hunting, fishing, and Indianapolis Indian baseball games. John and his wife Tracey have five children and six grandchildren.
