Attorney Aisha Blanchard Collins LEGAL COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT Aisha is very active in the legal community and is a part of the following legal organizations: State Bar of Georgia, Family Law Section Atlanta Bar Association, Family Law Section Atlanta Bar Association, Young Lawyers Division DeKalb Bar Association, Family Law Section Georgia Association of Black Women Attorneys, Family Law Section Georgia Association of Women Lawyers BACKGROUND In 1998, Aisha graduated from Hood College with a B. A. in economics and sociology. She then joined the Teach For America program and taught 7th and 8th grade reading, language arts, and social studies in Phoenix, Arizona. Aisha then attended Northeastern University School of Law in Boston, MA where she participated in four three-month long internships in Atlanta, participated as an instructor in the first-year writing program, and helped to run a mentoring program for children of failed adoptions. At her 2008 graduation, Aisha was nominated and selected by her peers to provide the commencement address to her class. LEGAL CAREER Aisha began her legal career at Hunton & Williams, LLP where she was selected from a highly competitive pool of candidates as the Pro Bono Fellow. In that role, Aisha served low-income individuals in family law matters including divorce, legitimation actions, and adoptions. Aisha was also trained by the Atlanta Volunteer Lawyers Foundation as a Guardian ad Litem and has served as a Guardian ad Litem in several contested custody matters. After completing the Pro Bono Fellowship, Aisha became an Associate Attorney at a premiere family law firm in Atlanta, Georgia. Under the tutelage of her fabulous mentors, Aisha honed her skills as an advocate for middle income individuals in family law matters. Aisha remained there for nearly two years before she started the Blanchard Collins Law Firm, LLC. AWARDS Aisha twice won the E. Randolph Williams Award at Hunton & Williams, LLP for Outstanding Pro Bono Service in 2009 and 2010, she was twice selected as a Super Lawyers Rising Star in 2012 and 2013, and most recently, Aisha was selected by the Daily Report as one of their 2013, On the Rise, Top 40 Attorneys Under 40. PUBLICATIONS Aisha has presented at Continuing Legal Education seminars on the topics of attorneys fees and ethical considerations in family law cases. As a part of those courses, Aisha co-authored a paper with E. Noreen Banks-Ware in 2012 titled Preserving the Marital Estate and Division of Financial and Retirement Accounts, and in 2013 she authored Attorneys Fee Awards in Family Law Cases. PERSONAL Aisha is married to her microbiologist husband and has one daughter. In her free time, Aisha likes to run, work out, read, and cook new recipes.
