Up Close and Personal When it comes to workers compensation cases in Pittsburgh, a lot of folks think of Gary Scoulos. Hes experienced, skilled, and respected by practitioners in this highly specialized area of the law. Since 1996, he has been the partner in charge of Meyer Darraghs workers compensation practice, helping clients minimize their costs when employees claim injuries on the job. Gary also defends companies, property owners, and automobile drivers and their insurers against personal injury and property damage claims, but workers comp has become his principal beat. A native of the South Hills of Pittsburgh, Gary was a magna cum laude graduate of the University of Pittsburgh, where he double-majored in political science and philosophy. He earned his law degree cum laude from that same university in 1987, after serving as note editor of the Law Review. He joined Meyer Darragh after law school, becoming a partner in 1995. Gary has litigated or negotiated resolutions to hundreds of workers compensation claims at every level of Pennsylvanias administrative and court system. He has represented dozens of entities, including government agencies, private sector employers, self-insured employers, third-party administrators, commercial insurance carriers, and workers compensation liability pools. Professionally, Gary is a member of the workers compensation sections of both the Pennsylvania and Allegheny County Bar Associations, and a member of the workers compensation practice group of the American Law Firm Association. In the past, he taught a course on The Basics of Pennsylvania Workers Compensation Law at Robert Morris University. Gary, his wife, Lisa, and their three children live in the South Hills of Pittsburgh where Gary was born and raised. When not engaged in professional activity, Gary enjoys spending time with his family and playing hockey, golf, and his guitar.
