Notable cases include successfully suing Amazon.com for offering on its website skin lightening creams containing very high levels of mercury, establishing that Amazon is not shielded by the Communications Decency Act from state health and safety regulation. She also established in a proceeding before Californias Water Resources Control Board that the owners of Arrowhead Natural Spring Water were taking water from National Forest lands to which they had no right, and that completely dewatering a spring before it emerges at the surface does not remove the Water Boards jurisdiction over that water. Finally, Ms. Doughty was part of the legal team that established that prisoners have a Constitutional right to daily exposure to direct sunlight. S. in Natural Resources (with a minor concentration in biogeochemistry) from Cornell University, and a B. S. in biochemistry from the University of Tennessee. Prior to law school, she was a fellow at the U. S. Environmental Protection Agency in the Wetlands Division.
