Carsons practice focuses on complex commercial disputes, and he has briefed and argued cases in state and federal courts across the country. He has experience representing both plaintiffs and defendants in a broad range of contract, intellectual property, insurance recovery, antitrust and securities matters. Carson earned his law degree from the University of Texas School of Law, where he was an associate editor of the Texas Law Review. During law school, Carson received the Jones Day Best Brief Award and was a semi-finalist in the national Duberstein Bankruptcy Moot Court Competition. Prior to joining Kirkland, Carson worked for a prominent national trial boutique. Represented a hedge fund in a complex breach of contract trial against a bank regarding a financial derivatives contract that failed in the wake of the 2008 financial crisis. Represented a photographer in a copyright infringement case against a Fortune 500 company regarding the infringing use of her photographs on product packaging. Represented a graffiti artist in a copyright infringement case against the estate of a deceased artist regarding ownership of album artwork. Represented a commercial lender in foreclosure dispute regarding student apartment complex in San Marcos, Texas.
