Jeffrey Pfirrman

Jeff Pfirrman grew up on Cincinnatis West Side, the son of a Cincinnati police officer, now retired. The Pfirrmans were big on beach vacations. Big on family, too. Even now, they all try to get to Siesta Key when schedules permit. With everybody, theyve had times where theyve filled up five condos on the beach. The Pfirrmans are like a lot of West Siders in that regard. Jeff and his wife, Alison, see his or her parents or siblings frequently. In the warm summer months, someone usually breaks out the cornhole game or the bocci ball set, because those activities seem to bring friends together. Jeff tells a story about his father that makes him grin, of when he bought a set of plans on eBay for a $100 bar. He starts building this bar on the deck. Pretty soon, its a $1,000 bar. Then it turns into a parrot-themed tropical extravaganza. Then he builds a superstructure you can enclose with insulated panels in the winter. Its another world on the back of his house in Delhi. Youd have to see it to believe it. Its a great family gathering place. Jeff was a talkative boy, full of questions. He was especially interested in how things work and how circumstances conspire to lead to a certain outcome. His favorite subject was math because he liked the puzzle-solving aspect of it. He preferred elective reading to the reading they had him do in school. This mindset has instilled a fondness for learning, which he expects will remain with him through his life. From the time he was in high school at Elder to early on in law school, he supported himself with numerous jobs, including a long-standing stint at Price Hill Chili. Its a Pfirrman tradition - his older brother and younger brother also worked there. Law appealed to him out of a notion that lawyers have a key to getting along in society that other people generally dont have. When the average person has an issue, they may not know where to find the answer. Were living in a society full of rules, but nobody knows how they all work. If youre a lawyer, even if you dont have the answer, you have a pretty good idea where to find it. He describes himself as fun loving and hard working, with both traits equally reflective of his personality. He aspires to spend more time running and biking, and he loves all types of music. He plays guitar - a Gibson SG - and composed a piano wedding processional song for his sisters wedding. He mentions a conversation he had with one of his dads cop buddies. He likes to kid me, calls me a shyster. He asked me, What do attorneys do thats good for society? I told him lawyers defend peoples rights. The best ones have handled the cases that have determined the direction our country has taken. Thats what Im aiming for. I want to be a part of something important. Im not saying its about leaving my mark. But I do want to be part of an effort that has that kind of impact on in our society.
