Ms. Lopez regularly advises employers, insurance carriers, third-party administrators, and claims adjusters regarding their rights and responsibilities under the Arizona and New Mexico Workers’ Compensation Act. Ms. Lopez is an experienced litigator with over 25 years of experience. She utilizes that extensive litigation experience to advocate on behalf of her clients in litigated matters before the Industrial Commission of Arizona (ICA) and New Mexico Workers’ Compensation Administration (WCA). Ms. Lopez’s current and former clients include Fortune 100 companies, Fortune 500 companies, school districts, mining companies, airlines, entertainment companies, hospitals, hotels, restaurants, construction companies, and transportation and trucking companies. Prior to joining Welker and Pauole, Ms. Lopez led the New Mexico workers’ compensation team for a regional firm establishing their Albuquerque office in 2002 before moving to Arizona. Ms. Lopez has taken over 1000 depositions, taken several trials to jury verdict for cases in personal injury, wrongful death, and workers’ compensation, and had numerous bench trials. During Ms. Lopez’s 25 years of experience, she has had many favorable decisions while representing carriers, self-insured’s, and employers before the Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, and Oklahoma workers’ compensation agencies and courts and defense jury verdicts in the District Courts of Texas. She has also represented clients before the Court of Appeals of Arizona, New Mexico District Courts, New Mexico Court of Appeals, Supreme Court of New Mexico and the Court of Appeals of Texas. She is an active participant in the workers’ compensation community and has been a speaker at several conferences concerning topics varying from case law updates to bad faith.
