Served as Trial Counsel in the United States Army in almost two hundred court martial cases. Honorably Discharged Captain US Army Reserve. Awarded the Army Commendation Medal by the Secretary of the Army Assistant District Attorney Queens County, NYAssistant State Attorney Broward County Florida Private Practice handling numerous civil and criminal matters for nineteen years. Litigated primarily in the areas of Commercial Litigation and Personal Injury. Served as Florida State Senator from 1982 to 1996 including multiple terms as Chair or Vice Chair of the Senate Judiciary Committee Served a term as Senate Majority Leader Circuit Judge, Seventeenth Judicial Circuit 1998 thru 2018.. Served in the Felony Trial Division, The Civil Division and the Probate and Guardianship Division. Served Three Terms as Chief Judge of the Seventeenth Judicial Circuit from 2011 to 2017. Appointed by the Florida Supreme Court to serve on the Local Rules Committee Served on the Senior Judge Review Board Created the Broward Veterans Court. This a Court designed to assist those Veterans, who have been charged with a criminal offense, to obtain therapeutic treatment services. Served as 4th District Representative to the Conference of Circuit Judges. Served on the Legislative Committee of the Conference of Circuit Judges. Served as Member of the Broward Chapter Inns of Court Served as Board Member for the Susan B. Anthony Recovery Center for Women. Served as President of the BNai BRith Justice Unit. Served as Member of the Board of the Broward Community Blood Center Served on the Board of Directors for the Jewish Federation Served as Lt. Colonel, United States Air Force Auxiliary Civil Air Patrol Jewish War Veterans Judge Advocate Received the Rosemary Barkett Award for Outstanding Demonstrated Commitment to Equal Justice Under the Law by The Academy of Florida Trial Lawyers. Florida Distinguished Service Medal by the Florida National Guard Award for unyielding commitment on behalf of citizens who are mentally retarded presented by the Association for Retarded Citizens of Florida.
