Matthew Nanninga

Matt Nanninga focuses his practice on general liability tort defense. He has advised clients ranging from large corporations to small business owners on claims handling, loss mitigation, and general defense strategy. He has served as lead counsel for his clients in both state and federal courts throughout Georgia. Matt has experience handling cases in numerous industries, including major indoor/outdoor sports arenas and racetracks, amusement facilities, hotel and hospitality entities, restaurants and nightclubs in the food and beverage industry, national restaurant franchises, gas stations and convenience stores, as well as apartment communities facing high exposure negligent security claims. Matt also represents clients in the trucking and transportation industry. Mr. Nanninga also serves Administrator of the Georgia Self-Insurers Guaranty Trust Fund (GSIGTF). Through the GSIGTFs Board of Trustees and the State Board of Workers Compensation, Matt advises on numerous issues related to self-insurance and the regulation of self-insurance in Georgia. Matt has advised and led the GSIGTF in several member bankruptcies and helped transition millions of dollars in security into benefits for injured workers, families, and their dependents. Matt serves as an Officer for the Self-Insurance Guaranty Funds of America (SIGFA) organization. Prior to entering law school, Matt played professional baseball in the Cincinnati Reds organization and played one season for a baseball club in Antwerp, Belgium. He has received an AV Preeminent Rating from Martindale Hubbell for his high ethical standards and professionalism.
