With me, clients get a litigator that doesn’t just understand the law, but also someone that understands the role of the judiciary.” BACKGROUND & EXPERIENCE John’s legal background was established prior to joining Holley Driggs, when he served as a judicial law clerk to the Honorable Jerome T. Tao of the Nevada Court of Appeals, a judicial extern to the Honorable Abbi Silver of the Nevada Supreme Court, and a legal extern in the appellate unit of the Clark County District Attorney’s Office and Nevada Attorney General’s Office. Through these experiences, John gained a deep understanding of Nevada’s appellate landscape that has shaped and strengthened his commercial litigation practice. Since joining Holley Driggs, John has been a part of the firm’s commercial litigation practice where his time has been spent advising construction clients regarding partnership disputes, contracts and contract negotiation, construction defects, payment disputes, licensing requirements, and risk management. John has also spent considerable time litigating employment matters for employers. John’s experience includes defending employers against claims of alleged violations of Title VII, Age Discrimination in Employment Act, and Americans with Disabilities Act. Furthermore, John has arbitrated various for employers arising out of collective bargaining agreements. Finally, John advises commercial and residential landlords regarding their rights, duties, and obligations under Nevada law and defending landlords in court regarding negligence and contract disputes. Outside of his legal practice, John is a strong advocate for education and educating leaders of the future in Nevada. In 2021, John was appointed and served as President to the Board of Trustees for the Futuro Academy of East Las Vegas Charter School until his appointment expired in 2023. John also served as a substitute teacher and coach for the Clark County School District while earning his undergraduate and law degrees. John’s love for soccer helped him lead the Eldorado High School boys’ soccer team to the 2013 Nevada State Championship title. When he is not at work, John enjoys spending time with his wife Gloria, and three children, Lexa, J.J., and Jordan.
